EMDR Therapy
Trauma creates change you didn’t choose, and healing is about creating the change you do choose. EMDR differs from traditional talk therapy by using less verbal processing and helping you access your body’s natural capacity to process and release unresolved experiences. Couples Therapy

Together, we look at how each partner’s inner world and relational history influence the dynamic between you. Sessions are offered both in person at Cultivate: A Counseling Collective located in University Heights and La Mesa, and virtually via a secure, confidential online platform - allowing you to choose the option that feels most comfortable and convenient for you.

The first session is a time to begin understanding what brings you to therapy and what feels most important right now. We’ll talk about what you’re navigating, explore context and patterns as they emerge, and get a sense of how you relate to yourself and others. There’s no pressure to share everything or to know exactly where to start. We’ll move at a pace that feels respectful of your capacity, and by the end, we’ll have a clearer sense of how therapy might support you and what next steps could look like.

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some people come with a specific focus, while others enter a longer-term process of exploration and change. We’ll revisit pacing and goals as we go, and adjust the work based on your needs.

It’s common for partners to come into couples therapy with different levels of readiness or motivation. While shared commitment to the process can be helpful, it’s not necessary for both partners to feel equally certain at the beginning. Often, part of the work is making space for ambivalence, hesitation, or differing hopes for therapy.
What matters most is a willingness to show up and engage honestly. Therapy can support couples in clarifying what’s happening beneath the surface, understanding relational patterns, and determining what each partner needs moving forward — whether that’s repairing connection, creating clearer boundaries, or gaining greater clarity about the relationship itself.
